Open every day except Monday and Tuesday from 12-6pm

The "SPECTRE" exhibition, featuring seven sculptors of all generations, is a theatrical production held in Le Botanique Museum, and is curated by Lola Meotti and Grégory Thirion.

Unusual everyday objects arise in the room as if to call us to order or, conversely, to resist. Scales are distorted, inspirations are marginal, and referents appear out of surrealist analepses. The materials used evoke an abrupt reality. Concrete, brick, resin, wood, and plaster join forces to firmly root the audience in a tangible world. But their presence and influence force us to confront our reference points through a fantastic aura and disturbing realism. SPECTRE invites us to rethink our collective memory and reconsider the territories that we inhabit, to observe the architecture around us and more broadly, to reconsider the notion of “living together” and its drawbacks.

The heavy soundproof doors in the exhibition space of Gate 8 are reminiscent of the time when it served as a cardiologist's consultation room. Both artists refer to the physical and psychological in their work.

ab·sence (ăb′səns)
“How does absence look?
It extends from a spaceless
within to the edge
of what can be loved.”

Adapted from Carson, A. (2016). Autobiography of red: a novel in verse.Toronto: McClelland & Stewart.

What do we leave behind? How do we give form to thenonphysical? Within our limits of perception, what can we trust? The selectedworks string together an expansive questioning of absence and awareness, conveyed into three-dimensional forms, through space or time. The dialoguebetween these works by eight international artists will happen on their commonadoptive ground, in Brooklyn, New York. Absence Project #0 defines a model forthe continued and future autonomy of artists, creating our own space in theworld.
